Gibsons Foods has been established for 30 years, founded by brothers Colin and Edward Gibson, and is still an independent family run business today. The company began trading within 28 instore bakeries in the North West region, hand crafting fresh sandwiches to order. In 1989, the decision was taken to centralise sandwich production to ensure set specifications and a consistent level of quality. As the company’s reputation grew, production expanded into our current facility at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, complete with Hot Bread Kitchens. Fresh bread and morning goods are still made daily in this unique on site bakery, enabling the company to create bespoke products for customers. Ten years later the company launched sandwiches and wraps under license from Weight Watchers. As expertise was developed in healthy eating, the launch of deli fillers in 2003 and pasta salads in 2005 followed to strengthen the portfolio. As well as launching healthy eating products, Gibsons also have experience in manufacturing core and premium own label products. A second manufacturing site was opened in Devizes, Wiltshire in 2005. As a modern, purpose built facility with 37,000 sq ft, this gave the company an important base in the South. With 350+ employees dedicated to offering customers products of the highest possible quality, Gibsons Foods is a successful player in the ‘on the go’ sandwich market and has built up a sales turnover in excess of £20m. |
